PINK

It has been raining for weeks now. The rain reminds me of the umbrella I got as a child. It was pink and had colored dots, I loved it. I was still using it as an adult, because the pink made me smile on a grey and rainy day. I forgot my umbrella in Vienna, where I used to live for quite a while, and when I came back to pick up a few things, it was gone. Maybe I should buy a new umbrella that makes me smile on a rainy day like today.

LOVESICK

Last Sunday my friend M. from H. visited me. Once again she`s lovesick. Her boyfriend seems to be a very strange man, but she doesn`t want to be alone either. Should she leave him or keep him? That`s the question. I don`t know the answer. But I made a cake to comfort her. We went for a walk in the park. The sun was shining, it was a very lovely afternoon.

SWITZERLAND

A drunken man entered the laundromat and sat down on the window sill. He started talking to a young couple.

He was from  Switzerland, looking forward to his trip to Italy.

I can`t talk to you that much, the young man said. I have to help my wife with the laundry, or she will be angry with me.

That`s all right, the drunken man answered. As long as you have a wife, you should do what she tells you to do. I don`t have a wife anymore, she`s dead. And my child is dead, too. Everybody is dead but me, I am the only one who is still alive.

He seemed to be very surprised about the fact that he was still alive. He looked so sad, I thought my heart would break into pieces.

PLANTS

When I was sitting in the bus, looking out of the window, I saw a shopping cart standing on a crosswalk. It was full of plants and had a sign that said: Take me to the place where I am needed the most. It made me smile.

CAFETERIA

One of the students who works in the cafeteria of my library is my favourite waitress. She is very beautiful: she`s got very long, dark hair, a pretty face and a skinny figure. I think she`s spanish, but I`m not sure. She`s always very friendly and seems to be unconcerned about everything she`s doing. I`m not in love with her, but I would love to be her friend. I really don`t know how to do that.

DRESS

I bought a new dress today.

It`s orange, it`s beautiful, it suites me well

and it makes me very happy!

LIBRARY

In the library where I sometimes work on my term paper, there is a guy who is arranging all the baskets in a pile. He`s doing this every night. I`ve been wondering if he`s a member of the staff who is in charge of the baskets or if he`s just one of those freaks who is sneaking around on the campus. However, he seems to have found his destination.

CAB DRIVER

Last night I came home from Berlin. When I arrived at the station with one and a half hour delay, I was annoyed and extremely tired. No one was there to pick me up, so I had to take a cab to get home. When the driver opened the door we recognized each other from previous cab rides. As always?, he asked. It was nice to see a familiar face.

MOBILE

Last night my mobile broke. On my way to a phone booth I saw a woman stepping out of a house, wearing a pink, flowered bathrobe and carrying a water pipe in her hands like a baby. She seemed to be in a hurry.

MOTHER

A while ago I talked to my boyfriend about having a child. I am afraid of becoming the kind of mother I do not want to be. "You will be exactly the kind of mother you want to be," my boyfriend said. I couldn`t help but wonder: Do we also decide - at least to a certain extent - what kind of person we want to be?

BOOK

Last night I finished a book.

Finishing a book that I like always makes me kind of sad and gives me the feeling of being left behind. The people from the book will no longer be a part of my life. 

It`s time for new people to enter my world.

HAPPINESS

I made cupcakes for my sweetheart -
they are yummie!

LAUNDROMAT

After two days of sleep and rest I feel much better - but my back hurts a little.

I went to the laundromat and was relieved that I could leave after 30minutes, because one guy was talking to himself all the time, another one kept staring at my underwear while I was folding it. What a creep!

In the evening I finally managed to pin my chain of lights at the wall that I got for Christmas. The light is beautiful.

EX-BOYFRIEND

Last night I called my friend I. She went to a concert where she met her ex-boyfriend after six years of no contact. He was really fat and had just broken up with his girlfriend. But she felt great because she recently had lost some weight, has a great job and a wonderful boyfriend. And she said mean things to her ex because she wanted to hurt him on purpose. I guess meeting your ex is never easy.

Later that evening I played the guitar.

SICK

I don`t feel so good -  my throat hurts and I am exhausted - so I decided to see the doctor. I`ve got a virus, so I should stay at home and rest. The good news is: I started my blog. The bad news is: I can`t go for a run in the park, and I can also work at home.
As a child I liked staying at home when I was sick. My mother made peppermint tea and told me to sleep, but I secretly read one book after another - and didn`t have to work. But these days are gone.

TATORT

Last night I visited my friend T. We were having a girls night with Tatort, chocolate and tea. I enjoyed her company very much, because I had been lonely the last days. It felt good to talk to a friend.
